We encourage you to support the HASS sector by sharing details about your discipline/department via this newsletter. No news is too small of too big. Any mention of HASS is of value to our sector and we plan on continuing to extend the reach of our newsletter overtime. Please submit all content to CHASS Admin with NEWSLETTER in the subject line. 
 
CHASS Statement on Vetoed Grants
CHASS joined other sector peak bodies, associations, and universities in strongly condemning the vetoing of six, expert review panel-recommended research projects by acting Minister for Education, Stuart Robert, in the latest Australian Research Council Discovery Scheme round. If you missed our statement, you can catch up with it here.
 
HASS Congress
The Congress of the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences
November 27 - December 2, 2022

CHASS is very excited to be bringing together many of the major discipline association events for this year in the HASS sector under one banner. This will be the major initiative for CHASS and hopefully the major showcase for the sector in 2022.

New: 2022 Australasian Association of Philosophy Prizes – Call for entries
 
  • Annette Baier Prize - The Australasian Association of Philosophy offers an annual prize of $500 for an outstanding philosophical paper or book chapter published by an Australasian woman during the previous calendar year.
    The closing date for entries is February 28 2022 at 6pm AEDT. Eligibility, Judging Criteria and online entry form available at: https://aap.org.au/Annette-Baier-Prize
  • AAP Prize for Innovation in Inclusive Curricula - The Australasian Association of Philosophy offers an annual monetary prize of $500 for the development of innovative approaches to teaching philosophy.   • AAP Media Prize - The Australasian Association of Philosophy offers an annual prize of $500 for the best philosophical piece(s) published by a professional philosopher in the popular media in Australasia during the previous calendar year.   • AAP Media Professionals' Award - The Australasian Association of Philosophy offers an occasional award of $500 to journalists and other media professionals for excellence in the presentation of philosophy or philosophical issues in the media during the previous calendar year. Questions Writing Prize 2022
The 2022 Questions Writing Prize recognises and rewards young Australian writers (18 to 30 years). The writing can be fiction or non-fiction on any topic as long as the piece remains between 1,500 and 2,000 words.
The prize for the best writing submitted is $2,000.
The winner of the Questions Writing Prize will have their work published in a book and a forthcoming issue of Questions.
