2009 HASS on the Hill

Tuesday 27 - Wednesday 28 October 2009

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear?
You will need business dress for your meeting with Parliamentarians, and less formal clothes for the Briefing Day and the dinner. Remember that Canberra can be cool in October.
Can I store luggage at the National Library of Australia, the National Press Club or Parliament House?
The Library and Parliament House have cloakrooms with limited capacity for suitcases, so it would be better to take your luggage directly to your hotel, and collect it again at the end of the event. There is no place to store luggage at the Press Club.
What time does the event begin and end?
Begins at 9.15 am on Tuesday 27 October. Registration opens from 8.30 am.
Ends on Wednesday afternoon 28 October (the time depends on whether you have a late afternoon appointment with an MP).
What should I bring?
Plenty of business cards - it's a great net-working event.
Brochures or simple information about your work, something you can leave behind with your MP.
Does Canberra airport really get closed down by foggy mornings?
Yes it can, particularly in winter.
What's included in the registration price?
We provide morning tea, lunch at the National Press Club, afternoon tea on Tuesday; and morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on Wednesday. The dinner on Tuesday is an extra-cost option.
The registration fee assists with the cost of organising the event, including administration, all the documentation, and the busses to the NPC. It does NOT include transport to Canberra or your accommodation.
What if I register, and then cancel?
Full refunds will be made for cancellations before Friday 16 October 2009. No refunds will be made after that date because of the extra administration in re-scheduling appointments.
