A discussion of Public Support for Science and Innovation, a recent report from the Commission.

2:15 - 3:00 pm The issues we take in to the meetings
Discussion on the material all registrants will take in to the meetings. What position will people put in the conversations?

3:00 - 4:00 pm Second discussion with partners in meetings, to complete the Visit Plan. Includes afternoon tea.
4:00 - 4:45 pm Advocacy tips and the Issues
How to do it on the Hill, the sort of person you will be meeting, what their daily schedule looks like.

4:45 - 5:30 pm ALP plans for research and innovation

5.45 pm Buses depart for selected hotels
Bus 1 North: University House, The Lakeside and Civic
Bus 2 South: The Hyatt, The Kurrajong, Brassey House, the Pavilion, Kingston shops
6:00 pm Registrants may like to meet over a social drink: Hyatt in Commonwealth Avenue is close to the Lobby Restaurant, and the Kurrajong Hotel in National Circuit is 10 minutes walk.

Day 2: Wednesday, 20 June 2007

7:00 - 8:30 am

Breakfast with the Shadow Minister
From 8:30 am Individual meetings with MPs commence at Parliament House.
People with an 8am meeting should aim to be at the House by 7.40am. Go to the Security Desk just inside the main entrance, collect your security pass, and go straight to the room of your meeting. When you leave Parliament House, please hand your pass in to Security. You can collect it there again if you have afternoon meetings..
8:30 am For other registrants: either walk (10-15 minutes) or bus from the National Library to Parliament House.
Enter via the main door and collect your pass from the security desk in the foyer.
9:00 - 9:45 am Meeting the Minister
The Hon Julie Bishop, Minister for Education, Science and Training.
Theatre, Parliament House (public area).

From 9:00 am Base Room
CHASS has established a base room 1S2 (secure area). Registrants are requested to return to this room between appointments.
10:15 am Morning tea with the Minister
The Hon Senator George Brandis, Minister for the Arts and Sport.

11:10 am Shuttle buses depart from underground car park at Parliament House, to take registrants to lunch at the National Press Club.
Walk out main entrance, go down stairs to underground car park.
11:30 am - 1:30 pm National Press Club luncheon. Address by Professor Greg Craven
1:30 pm For those leaving the event at this stage, please drop in to the CHASS desk upstairs at the NPC, to complete formalities.
1:45 pm Shuttle buses return to APH
2:00 - 3:15 pm Question Time
All registrants attend Question Time in the House (or Senate)
3:15 - 6:00 pm Individual meetings with MPs

4:05 - 4:50 pm Optional visit to the Parliamentary Library.
2nd Floor, Ministerial Wing.
Meet Richard Ryan, Assistant Director, Publications and Client Relations.
5:00 pm Complete formalities
