Creative & Performing Arts, Design & Architecture Workshop

Tuesday, 27 February 2007

About the workshop

The Creative and Performing Arts, Design and Architecture Workshop will enable people in the tertiary sector to discuss how the RQF process will affect their disciplines.

This one day workshop will deal with the practicalities of the process:

  • the appropriate research outputs for the disciplines within the relevant Panel
  • appropriate indicators to aid the assessment of research quality and research impact
  • the type of supplementary information that can be included in a Research Group's context statement

It will feature a series of plenary presentations, with opportunities for each discipline to consider matters from their own perspectives.

Discussions will be led by senior figures from relevant disciplines: visual arts, architecture and design; performing arts, theatre, dance and music; film, animation; and creative writing.

A senior figure from the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) will address questions of context and process.

The event aims to enable discussions across the disciplines, to allow researchers to come to terms with the practicalities, opportunities and challenges the new system will present.

There will be a combination of individual speakers and panel discussions, with plenty of time for informal meetings. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included in the registration.

And there will be an optional dinner following the workshop (Tuesday evening) for those wishing to continue the discussions into the evening.

View, at night, of the Queensland Conservatorium on the South Bank.
