2006 HASS on the Hill:   Expanding Horizons

28 - 29 March 2006

Preparing for the meeting: researching your Parliamentarian

The name of the Parliamentarian you are meeting will be sent to you about 10 days before the event. It's important to know something about this person before the meeting starts.

The easiest way to find out is to look them up on the Parliament House web site. More specifically, for members of the House of Representatives, and for Senators.

The entry for each Parliamentarian contains a photo, a brief biography, a list of committee memberships, and the text of their first speech after election. It will have details of the electorates of Members of the House.

If you wanted to find out what they have being saying in Parliament, you can search Parliamentary records for their speeches and any documents. Start at the ParlInfo website.
