About the AGM

The 2009 Annual General Meeting will be held in association with the HASS on the Hill event. Participants are asked to arrive by 4:15pm to complete voting formalities before the meeting commences at 4.45pm. Members and friends of CHASS are invited to attend.

The meeting will consider changes to governance provisions in the Constitution resulting in adoption of a new Constitution, the President's Report, the Auditor's Report, and election of the 2009-2010 Board. See Notice of Annual General Meeting

Changes to Constitution

The CHASS Board has recommended changes to the Constitution to make governance of the Council more open, and to strengthen the Board membership and processes. As foreshadowed, these changes include replacing fixed one year terms for board members with a rolling program in which one third of the Board retires each year.

It will also allow for election of the President by the Board and the appointment of up to two additional members to fill particular gaps in skills or representation. The amendments will be considered at the 2009 AGM.

It sees good governance as one of the drivers of strong performance in achieving greater recognition and resources for HASS.

There are a number of vacancies on the board in 2009. Nominations for the positions must be received no later than seven days before the Annual General Meeting. Visit Guide to Board skills for more information.
